How to Package a Game

Postby patrikStar » Wed Oct 08, 2008 11:39 am

I am going to make an installer for the arcade room that should simplify how you add games that are packaged into a zip file with the proper files inside.

Files Inside Zip:
The SWF file
The Image File (optional)
The game.xml file

How to format the game.xml file:
Code: Select all
<game>
    <name>putGameNameHere</name>
    <highscore>true/false</highscore>
    <revscore>true/false</revscore>
    <keyboard>true/false</keyboard>
    <mouse>true/false</mouse>
    <width>###</width>
    <height>###</height>
    <description>gameDescriptionHere</description>
    <directions>gameDirectionsHere</directions>
    <swf>abcdefg.swf</swf>
    <image>abcdefg.gif</image>
</game>

Will the system be able to recognize carriage returns in the descriptions and directions?

Also, do we need to save it in a particular encoding? (UTF-8, ASCII, etc)
